The Community Justice Centres recognize the importance of confidentiality and the sensitivity of personal information that you may communicate, verbally or in writing, to any member of the staff of the Community Justice Centres in the course of legal consultations and the provision of services. This information includes your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, gender, employment information, health information or any other information that directly or indirectly identifies you (your “personal information”).

Treatment and use of your Personal Information

The automated and/or paper processing and use of your personal information will be limited to the purposes necessary for the activities of the Justice Centres concerned in order to assess your needs and offer you the services for which you are eligible, where applicable.

How long we keep your personal information

Unless otherwise authorized or required by applicable law or regulation, Justice Centres will retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes for which it was collected.

Reasonable safety measures to counter risks

The Justice Centres has implemented reasonable security measures against such risks as unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, or destruction of your personal information.

Access or rectification request

At any time, subject to applicable laws, you may request access to or correction of your personal information by contacting the person responsible for the protection of personal information at the Neighbourhood Justice Centre providing the services to you.

Withdrawing your consent

You may withdraw your consent to the collection and use of your personal information at any time, subject to the ethical and professional obligations of lawyers, notaries and other professionals practicing within the Community Justice Centres.
