We aspire to be a trusted, accessible and humane point of reference, where everyone can get information, receive support and guidance, and feel listened to. By bringing justice closer to the people, we are helping to build a more humane, inclusive justice system that serves everyone.

A people-centred story

The Community Justice Centres, now known as Info Justice, were created in 2010 to improve access to justice. Born of a collective mobilization of communities and players in the legal field, this project aims to bring justice closer to people, throughout Quebec, to make it fairer and more understandable for all.

2010

Pilot project

The Community Justice Centres are the result of a pilot project launched by the Quebec Ministry of Justice in 2010. This project enabled the first three Centres to be set up in Rimouski (September 2010), Quebec City (December 2010) and Montreal (May 2011).

2013

A successful project

The Community Justice Centres pilot project was a great success. On April 1, 2013, the three centers in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, Capitale-Nationale and Greater Montreal regions received the go-ahead from the Minister of Justice to continue their activities on a permanent basis.

2013-2015

Network expansion

In October 2013, with the aim of providing other regions of Quebec with their own community justice centers, a call for projects was launched by the Quebec Ministry of Justice, and new centers were set up in the Outaouais, Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean regions.

2016-2017

Future centers in sight

In December 2016, the future deployment of two new Centers in the Montérégie and Nunavik regions was announced. In 2017, a new announcement was made indicating the future deployment of Centers in the Mauricie and Côte-Nord regions.

2019

Mission Nord

The North Shore Community Justice Center began operations in July 2018. A few months later, in December 2019, the Nunavik Community Justice Center opened its doors to meet the specific needs of its community.

2021

Separation Info available everywhere

The Centre de justice de proximité Laval-Laurentides-Lanaudière opens its doors, while the family pre-mediation service Info Séparation is now offered throughout the network.

2024-2025

New centers and an innovative project

Official opening of the Centre-du-Québec and Estrie community justice centers in 2024. The Abitibi-Témiscamingue Community Justice Centre will open in November 2025.

It was in 2024 that the Juristes Mobiles action-research project was launched, with the aim of evaluating and then testing innovative approaches to improving access to justice for populations facing obstacles in this area.

2025

YACs change their name

Local Justice Centers adopt the name Info Justice. This name change is intended to better reflect their central role in providing access to legal information, while retaining the same mission of providing a neutral, humane service accessible to the entire population. The opening of Info Justice Abitibi-Témiscamingue, scheduled for September 2025, will reinforce this presence on the territory and broaden access to these services in the region.

An active presence

We are fully committed to working with communities to strengthen access to justice and support the legal needs of the people who live there. We offer tailored, targeted and concrete legal support, offered on an ad hoc basis to meet people’s needs and help them better understand and navigate their legal situations. Our information sessions address a range of legal concerns.

In addition, we actively participate in fairs, forums and produce podcasts to disseminate information and support access to justice and the right to be accompanied.

Our network actively participates in a number of access to justice initiatives and develops innovative projects to improve community justice practices.

In 2024, the CJP launched an ambitious action-research project, Juristes Mobiles, aimed at understanding and responding to the issues of communities experiencing barriers affecting their access to justice. The action-research project will run for three years, with the aim of testing innovative approaches to meeting the legal needs of targeted populations.

Financing sources

Centers Info Justice are independent, non-profit organizations funded by the Fonds Accès Justice, under the responsibility of the Quebec Ministry of Justice.

The Info Justice Info Justice network support from the Justice Citoyens agreement and the Fonds d’études notariales for the implementation of national initiatives to deploy services of justice services in all regions of Quebec.
